Courtney Bell’s journey from an ICU nurse in Atlanta to a pioneer in holistic health, rooted in her Alaskan upbringing, showcases her commitment to wellness and family—learn more about her inspiring story.

Roots in Alaska:

Born and raised in the serene and rugged beauty of Port Alsworth, Alaska, Courtney grew up as the eldest of five children, surrounded by the majestic landscapes of the Alaskan wilderness. This environment instilled in her a profound appreciation for nature and wellness from an early age.

Nursing Career and Transformation:

After completing nursing school, Courtney ventured to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2012, embarking on a decade-long journey as an ICU nurse in one of the city’s largest and most prestigious hospitals. Her experiences in the ICU, witnessing the complexities of health and recovery, laid the foundation for her evolving vision of healthcare.

Pioneer in Holistic Wellness:

In 2017, Courtney experienced a pivotal shift in her professional life. She discovered her true calling in holistic health and functional medicine, recognizing the vital importance of gut and digestive health in overall wellness. Driven by this newfound passion, she founded a successful wellness business, becoming a beacon of hope and healing for those struggling with digestive issues.

Life in Atlanta:

Courtney’s life in Atlanta is a harmonious blend of her professional endeavors and personal joy. She resides there with her husband and daughter, embracing the city’s vibrant culture and opportunities while maintaining her Alaskan resilience and groundedness.

Summer Retreats and Family Legacy:

Courtney returns to her roots in Alaska every summer, where she joins her sister Dana in managing the family’s cherished Bed and breakfast. This annual pilgrimage is more than a business endeavor; it’s a time to reconnect with family, share her experiences with guests, and impart her holistic health philosophy in a setting that naturally embodies wellness and tranquility.

Have questions about your upcoming stay with us? Browse through our FAQ section to find helpful answers about accommodations, amenities, and getting the most out of your Alaskan adventure at Alaska’s Backcountry Inn. We’re here to ensure your experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

While there are no traditional grocery stores nearby, guests can purchase food in Anchorage. Additionally, a local food truck operates from Monday to Saturday. We can also arrange for dining reservations at various local lodges. We recommend guests bring some groceries, especially if they have not opted for a meal-inclusive package.

Currently, our facilities are not equipped for handicap accessibility. We are situated in a remote location with terrain that may not be suitable for guests with mobility challenges. We are continuously exploring ways to enhance accessibility in the future.
Please maintain communication with us prior to and on the day of your arrival in Port Alsworth. We provide a pick-up service from the air taxi to bring you to the B&B for your convenience. Additionally, we offer flight arrangements to and from Anchorage for our guests upon request.
Alcohol is available for purchase in Anchorage. We advise guests to plan accordingly, as there are no nearby stores for alcohol purchases at our location.
