Meet Dana Natwick

Dana Natwick: A Passionate Globetrotter with a Heart for Humanitarian Service

Dana Natwick was born and raised in Port Alsworth, Alaska, and one of her favorite parts about running the B&B with her family is the opportunities it creates to share the beauty of her home with others from around the world. Having traveled herself, she understands the value of creating a space where visitors can unwind while also enjoying the things that continue to make this place her home.

Home Base:

Port Alsworth, Alaska, is a roughly one-mile by one-mile village built around two gravel roads that are central to bush life. Surrounded by wilderness and serene waters, it provides the perfect setting for a life rich in community and appreciation for adventure.

The Traveler:

Dana’s love of travel began in high school with a study abroad program in Norway. She has since found adventure and inspiration with winter trips to places like Iceland, Scotland, and throughout the US. Norway has always been her favorite, and she returns as often as possible to visit her Norwegian family and soak up the beauty of the Norwegian countryside.

Aspiring Nurse with a Mission:

Dana has long wanted to find a way to give back to the community and serve people in need. Nursing has been on the horizon for the last few years as one way to do that. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s in nursing while working full-time. She sees nursing as a way to help her local community as well as serve organizations that operate in countries where, often, medical care is the most immediate need.

Family Ties and Summer Ventures:

While Dana spends much of the winter traveling, in the summer, her heart draws her back to her roots in Port Alsworth. Here, she collaborates with her sister Courtney and their father, running the bed and breakfast and hosting people from all over the world. She loves the opportunity to provide hospitality to others. Still, she also loves the time with family, sharing stories of her travels, hearing the stories of others, and sustaining her ties in the community she calls home.

The Essence of Dana:

Dana lives her life intentionally and joyfully, bringing these qualities to her work, her school, and her neighbors. She is a much-loved member of Port Alsworth but has found welcome and friendship in homes across all her travels. She wants to share this same welcome with other travelers for whom Port Alsworth is a stop in the middle of their own journeys.
